Build your opt-in list from zero
You can call a successful email marketing campaign only if you have your own opt-in list. Without your opt-in list you can’t dream of proper email marketing, it’s like going to fishing with no tools or any form of equipment.

Be careful when building your opt-in lists because here there are two ways in doing so: single opt-in or double opt-in subscription process.
With single-opt-in process your customers can fill in their name and email address and press the submit button, but as a best practice email marketing the preferred process is for double opt-in subscription. The double opt-in process requires customer (subscriber) to check his email and click a custom generated link to confirm their subscription. This offer you more security but also flexibility, you have the guaranty that the subscriber filled in correct his email address but also if you plan to use a third party email marketing provider or even move from one to another third party email marketing provider with a double opt-in confirmed list you will have no problem and you won’t be asked about the provenience of your list.
Double opt-in subscription process it shows that you are serious about your business and you respect certain guidelines such as the right to sending your email marketing message to your collected email addresses. This process is also known and referred as Permission based email marketing.
